George Orwell was an English journalist and novelist. His real name was Eric Arthur Blair and was born on 25th June 1903,in India, and died on 21st January 1950. During his life, Eric did many jobs and gained great
achievements. For example, in April 1932 he began his teaching career and he also wrote hundreds of books about different events that were happening at the time.

Animal Farm is a dystopian novel about the Russian Revolution and Stalin. All the characters are allegories of people during the time. E.G. Napoleon is meant to represent Joseph Stalin and Mr Jones was meant to represent Tsar Nicholas II who was executed during the revolution.

George Orwell wrote many books including Animal Farm. The following is the list of novels he wrote:

1934 – Burmese Days
1935 – A Clergyman’s Daughter
1936 – Keep the Aspidistra Flying
1939 – Coming Up for Air
1945 – Animal Farm
1949 – Nineteen Eighty-Four
